- ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Middle East hosted Emirates Green Building Council members at its Dubai facility during Green Building Week.
- The event explored sustainable construction, responsible manufacturing and the role of opening solutions in building performance.
- The companies highlighted collaboration on safer, more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings across the UAE and wider region.
The 7 September event brought together sustainability professionals and industry stakeholders for a knowledge-sharing session covering sustainable construction, opening solutions and responsible manufacturing.
ASSA ABLOY, which is a member of EGBC, presented its sustainability strategy and initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impacts across its operations and product lifecycles. The company also highlighted measures incorporated into its manufacturing processes and product portfolio.
Visitors were given a tour of the company’s metal doors manufacturing facility in Dubai, where they viewed production processes and sustainability measures used within its operations. The programme also included a visit to ASSA ABLOY’s Product Experience Center, showcasing solutions intended to support safety, accessibility, energy efficiency and building performance.
Aristidis Kotarelas, VP and Head of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Middle East, said the company sees sustainability as a responsibility shared across its operations and highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry stakeholders.
He added: “Through our Group’s commitment to science-based climate action, including our ambition to halve emissions in our operations by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions across our value chain by 2050, we recognise the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful progress.”
The company said the engagement with EGBC reflects the growing role of collaboration between manufacturers, sustainability organisations and other built-environment stakeholders in supporting more sustainable building practices in the UAE and wider region.
The event also highlighted how products including doors, hardware and access solutions can contribute to broader building objectives, alongside their primary security and safety functions.
As sustainability requirements continue to influence building design and construction across the Middle East, manufacturers are increasingly being called on to demonstrate the environmental performance of products and manufacturing processes alongside traditional requirements such as safety, security and functionality.
