‘Ultimate air power’ event to be held in Dubai in November

The eighth edition of the Dubai International Air Chief’s Conference (DIAC 2017) will take place on November 11, 2017 under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

The prestigious biennial event is supported by the Ministry of Defense and UAE Air Force and Air Defense, and organized by SEGMA. DIAC is the official conference of the Dubai Air Show taking place between November 12-16, 2017, at Dubai World Central.

“This event is highly significant in our continuing work on the future of conflict,” said Major General Abdullah Al Hashemi, Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Defence, “as we seek to maintain the capability of the Armed Forces of the UAE to meet challenges on the horizon, working alongside our friends and allies.”

“We are so proud to get another opportunity to organize DIAC that is regarded the ultimate air power event in the Middle East region,” said Riad Kahwaji, SEGMA CEO. “The event grew bigger in size and standing ever since it was launched in 2003, and we intend to further enhance it in the upcoming edition.”

The theme for DIAC 2017 focuses on the “Future of Air Power: Exploiting Advances in Network Centric Warfare.” A series of briefings from an international panel of air forces commanders will address new roles and missions, integrating 5th generation capabilities into existing force structures, network-centric operations, plugging sensor-shooter gaps, and harnessing unmanned aerial systems. The organizing committee for DIAC 2017 is investing greater efforts to conference’s intellectual content, discussions, and out-takes.

DIAC is a focused one-day air power conference that brings together thought leaders and the most senior decision-makers from air forces and industry partners around the world to address a series of strategic and operational considerations concerning the employment, development, and future of air power. DIAC brings together an audience of over 400 delegates including from some three dozen air force delegations which regularly attend the meeting, prominent officials and officers from the UAE and its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) partners, and various delegations from key Arab and international allies, from East and West.
